Brunei Darussalam, located near the equator, experiences the Equinox phenomenon twice a year, i.e. about the 20th March and 23rd September.

Equinox is an astronomical event in which the sun passes exactly above the equatorial line, resulting on an equal amount of day and night. During
the occurrence of Equinox, there is a possibility of slight increase of surface air temperature during the event of equinox.

Based on the temperature data collected by the BDMD, there has been no record significant increase of the surface air temperature during the event of Equinox.

menular di media-media social yang mana menunjukkan satu klip video kejadian habuk dan debu berpusar oleh
angin.

Kami ingin memaklumkan bahawa ini adalah fenomena cuaca yang dikenali sebagai pusar debu. Ianya terbentuk
apabila udara panas terus meningkat, menghasilkan tekanan rendah. Akhirnya udara sejuk mengatasi haba,
menyebabkan udara berpusing untuk membawa debu dan kotoran seterusnya mewujudkan pusar debu. Ini
adalah satu fenomena yang biasa terjadi, ianya biasa terbentuk semasa cuaca cerah. Kejadian ini biasanya
tidak berbahaya. Walau bagaimanapun, adalah dinasihatkan supaya orang ramai mengelakkan dan
menjauhkan...

The Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department (BDMD) would like to clarify the weather phenomenon seen
in video clip showing whirling dust and debris being made viral today through social media.

We would like to inform this is a weather phenomenon called a dust devil. This dust devils typically form when
hot air continues to rise, and creating low pressure. Eventually the cooler air overcomes the heat, causing the
swirling air to picks up dust and dirt forming the dust devil. It is quite a common phenomenon, and normally
formed during fair weather. It is normally harmless. However it is advisable to avoid and keep your distance.

Brunei Darussalam is currently in the second phase of the Northeast Monsoon period. Relatively, month of February
is categorised as the second driest month of the year due to the less amount of rainfall recorded as compare to the
other months.

However, the country has experienced rainy days since the 1st February until today (6th February). The amount of
rainfall recorded till yesterday over the Meteorological Observation Station Brunei International Airport is 82.8 mm,
which is already more than half of the long term normal rainfall (1981-2010) for month of February (i.e. 157.1 mm).
These unsettled weather conditions with cloudiness and occasional heavy rain showers that Brunei is experiencing
now are triggered by the combination...

Negara Brunei Darussalam pada masa ini berada dalam fasa kedua musim Timur Laut, dan secara relatif, bulan
Februari dikategorikan sebagai bulan kedua terkering dari segi jumlah turunan hujan berbanding dengan bulanbulan
lain.

Walaubagaimanapun sejak awal Februari sehingga hari ini (6hb Februari) Negara kita telah mengalami aktiviti
turunan hujan setiap hari. Jumlah hujan yang direkodkan setakat 5hb Februari di Stesen Pencerapan Cuaca
Lapangan Terbang Antarabangsa Brunei adalah 82.8 mm, iaitu lebih separuh daripada jumlah purata jangka panjang
(1981-2010) bagi bulan Februari (iaitu 157.1 mm).

Pada masa ini Negara kita mengalami cuaca yang tidak menentu dengan keadaan mendung dan hujan lebat sekalisekala.
