El Niño conditions are currently observed, as the sea surface temperatures (SSTs) over the central and eastern Pacific Ocean is warmer than average. Most international climate models are in agreement that further warming of sea surface temperature is likely, and El Niño conditions are forecasted to strengthen over the next few months and also persist until early next year, 2024.

El Niño is also known to be the ‘warm phase’ of the El Niño Southern Oscillation (ENSO) cycle. ENSO conditions are monitored by analysing Pacific sea surface temperatures, low level winds, cloudiness, and sub-surface temperatures. This phenomenon occurs every 3-7 years on average, and tends to peak during Northern Hemisphere winter (December to February).

During El Niño...

1. General Weather Situation
Brunei Darussalam is currently towards the end of Southwest Monsoon period, where southwesterly wind is still dominant. However, active weather conditions are still forecasted for the next few days due to the presence of low-pressure area near our country that caused moist atmospheric conditions and enhancement of the rain clouds development.

Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department’s Meteorological Observation Station, at the Brunei International Airport has recorded a total rainfall amount of 60.0 mm on Thursday, 21 September 2023. Since 1st September until yesterday, a total rainfall amount of 537.6 mm was recorded and this value has reached more than above normal amount of rainfall, by which the normal amount of rainfall for...

1.Keadaan Cuaca Secara Am

General Weather Situation

Brunei Darussalam is currently towards the end of Southwest Monsoon period, where southwesterly is weakening. Weak southwesterly and strong northeasterly flow of wind will cause moist atmospheric condition favorable to active weather condition for the next few days.

Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department’s Meteorological Observation Station, at the Brunei International Airport has recorded a total rainfall amount of 329.6 since 1st September 2023. This value has reached slightly above normal amount of rainfall, by which the normal amount of rainfall for September (1991-2020) is 235.1 mm.

Brunei Darussalam Weather Forecast
