WEATHER UPDATE FOR BRUNEI DARUSSALAM 31st OCTOBER 2020

General Situation:
Currently the development of cyclonic system remains active over the Western Part of Pacific Ocean and South China Sea areas.
As of 11.00 am local time today, Super Typhoon ‘Goni’ was observed at 15.3°N 128.8°E, Western Pacific Ocean, at 1,880 km away from Brunei Darussalam. Super Typhoon ‘Goni’ is expected to continue moving west-wards, further away from our country.

Meanwhile, a Tropical Depression ‘Atsani’ was observed at Western Pacific Ocean (14.9°N 137.6°E), at approximately 2,694 km away from Brunei Darussalam. The Tropical Depression is expected to continue moving Northwest-wards, towards Philippines.

Brunei Darussalam Weather Situation:
Weather condition over Brunei Darussalam in the next few days is unsettled. Showers or thundershowers are expected to occur late at night to early morning, mostly at sea, and occasionally spread to land areas. Gusty showers are also expected with wind speed reaching 40 km/h.

Meanwhile, sea state over Brunei waters remains slight to moderate reaching up to 1.3 meters.

Our Advice:
Members of the public are advised to take note of the risk of flash floods especially at low lying and flood prone areas during heavy showers or thundershowers as well as the risk of falling trees during gusty condition.

Public, road users and fisherman are advised to always be up to date with the latest weather forecast, advisory and warning issued by Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department, and to take precaution and any necessary actions to ensure safety.
