WEATHER SITUATION UPDATE FOR BRUNEI DARUSSALAM 11 FEBRUARI 2022

11 Feb 2023

General Situation:
Brunei Darussalam is currently in the second phase of the Northeast Monsoon, where generally Northeasterly wind is more dominant and the atmospheric conditions tend to be more stable with less rainfall activities.

Brunei Darussalam Weather Situation:
However, weather condition over Brunei Darussalam is forecasted to be active starting on Sunday (12 February 2023) until Wednesday (15 February 2023). This condition is due to the influence of a low-pressure system over the South China Sea, which has resulted in moist atmospheric conditions and thus enhanced the development of active rain clouds.

Showers, occasionally heavy and thundery, are expected to affect many areas of the country. Wind speed may reach up to 40 km/h during or near heavy and thundery showers.

Over Brunei waters, sea condition is generally at slight state, with wave height of below 1.0 m.

Our Advice:
Members of the public are advised to take precautionary actions with respect to the forecasted active weather condition. Risk of falling trees is still expected during heavy showers and gusty conditions. There is also risk of flash floods especially at low-lying and flood prone areas as well as near the riverbanks during continuous heavy rain and also during high tide.

Public, road users and fishermen are advised to always be up to date with the latest weather forecast, advisory and warning issued by Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department, and to take necessary actions to ensure safety.
