WEATHER UPDATE FOR BRUNEI DARUSSALAM 11 OCTOBER 2022

11 Oct 2022

Brunei Darussalam Monsoon Situation

Brunei Darussalam is currently in the Inter-Monsoon period, where local wind effects play an important role in governing our daily weather.

For the past few days, showers and thunderstorms frequently occurred over the inland during the afternoon, spreading and affecting coastal and sea areas at night, and persisted to early morning of the following day.

Brunei Darussalam Weather Situation

Our weather condition is still forecasted to be active starting today, Tuesday (11 October 2022) until Saturday (15 October 2022) due to the influence of a low pressure system developed over the South China Sea. This condition is expected to cause occasional gusty showers, especially at sea and may at times affect the land areas.

Wind speed may increase up to 50 km/h at land areas and 60 km/h at sea, during or near gusty showers.

Meanwhile, over Brunei waters, sea is at rough state, between 2.0 meter to 3.0 meter, especially starting from Wednesday (12 October 2022) until Friday (14 October 2022).

Our Advice:

Members of the public are advised to take precautionary actions with respect to the forecasted active weather conditions. Risk of falling trees and landslide are possible during heavy showers and gusty conditions. Risk of flash floods especially at low-lying and flood prone areas as well as near the river banks during heavy rain and also during high tide. Rough sea conditions are dangerous to all small crafts, and sea recreational activities and sports.
