1. General Situation:
Brunei Darussalam is still in the Southwest Monsoon season, where the general wind flow is blowing from the southwest. Southwest Monsoon also coincides with the season of active development of
cyclonic systems, such as tropical storms and typhoons, over the Western Pacific Ocean and South China Sea. When such system develops, our country tends to experience unsettled weather conditions with occasional gusty thunderstorms depending on the distance, movement and location of the system in relation to Brunei Darussalam.

As of 8.00 am local time today, Typhoon ‘Haishen’ was observed attheWest of Pacific Ocean (20.2⁰N, 138.5⁰E), at approximately 3000 km away from Brunei Darussalam. Typhoon ‘Haishen’ is expected
to continue moving northwest-wards, further away from Brunei Darussalam.

2. Brunei Weather Situation:
Typhoon ‘Haishen’ will not influence the weather conditions of Brunei Darussalam. Our weather in the next few days will be influenced by the local wind effect with development of showers along coastal areas around midday and thundershowers over inland areas in the afternoon and expected to propagate out to coastal and sea areas at night, and may prolong to early morning.
Meanwhile, towards the weekend, rain activities are expected to increase with occasional crossing of showers, thundery and gusty at times. Sea state remains slight below 1.0 m throughout this week.

3. Our Advice:
Members of the public are advised to take note of the risk of flash floods especially at low-lying and flood prone areas during heavy showers or thundershowers, as well as the risk of falling trees during gusty condition.

General public, motorists and fishermen, are also advised to always be up-to-date with the latest weather forecast, advisory and warning issued by Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department,
and to take necessary precautions to ensure safety.

We shall continue to monitor the weather conditions and will issue weather advisory or warnings if and when necessary. We would also like to advise the public to keep updated with the latest weather information either by contacting our Duty Meteorological Forecaster at Forecast Centre through our Weather Line 114 or visiting our website at or follow our Facebook account (@bruneiweather), Instagram (@bruneiweather) and Brunei WX mobile application.
